Tina Walker is the Regional Representative for the South East Regional Forum and Holly Smith is the coordinator.
Holly Smith Regional Coordinator Tina Walker Regional Representative
The Regional Forum gives self-advocates the chance to come together, share ideas and talk about the issues that affect them. Tina then presents these issues to the National Forum of people with Learning Disabilities so we can get things changed for the better.
The country is split into 9 regions. At the National forum we all come together and share feedback from the regions.
The National Forum is a direct link to the Learning Disability Board a national Board for the Department of Health. This Board is responsible for all learning disability policy and programmes, and is a direct link to Alistair Burt, the Minister for Social Care.
We are doing some work to strengthen our region and would like to make contact with self-advocates and self advocacy organisations who would like to join the forum.
We meet three times a year. Our next meeting is on 14th September at the St Pancras Community Centre in London. We keep in touch and share updates by phone and email.
Could you help us strengthen our network and would you like to be involved in changing this for the better for people with learning disabilities, if so please get in touch and we can give you more information.
