Interns Improving Safety on Public Transport

One of our Interns, Monty, was featured on KMTV recently having won a competition to design a poster for the British Transport Police.

Work coach, Rosie, tells us about the day.

"I went to Strood train station with Monty to watch his art work being revealed as part of a new campaign to make it easier for people to report crime on public transport. Monty designed the poster when he was at school last year. When Monty was in Year 11 at Bradfields Academy, Southeastern Railways visited the school to ask students if they felt safe on trains and whether they understood the posters with the railway officers' numbers on. The students said they did not understand the posters as they had too many words. Southastern decided to start up a competition for students to create a poster which was easy to understand. There were 4 winning entries out of 119 entries and Monty was one of those 4.  At the revealing of the poster, Monty met the Mayor of Medway and many police officers who couldn’t praise Monty enough for his work."

“Well done! Your poster is truly brilliant” - Mayor of Medway
“Thank you so much for creating such a good poster to help keep people safe on trains”  - Police Officer

It was a brilliant afternoon.  Monty smiled the whole time and said  “I am so proud of myself”

The unveiling was shown on KMTV and the video can be seen here -
